The painting hangs in my grandmother's house; it's acrylic on canvas, 18x24 inches.

My mom's father was diagnosed with pancriatic cancer a little after i decided to do this painting. Me, my sister and my mother stayed at their house for two weeks, in Vancouver, Washington. I stayed out in their RV at night, all bundled up, and painted away. It finally got finished..and i showed it to my grandparents...they loved it. The photo it's based off is their favorite..i didnt know that..i just thought they liked it.


The photo is my grandfather, and my family's german shephard dog, Heidi, walking down a small road to my house in Tennessee. We no longer live in that house...and we no longer have that dog..

So this painting is of what used to be.

John Cooke died February 5th, 2009, in my time zone, by just an hour. February 5th is also my brother's birthday. John's first grandchild.
He passed just before his 50th wedding anniversary to my grandmother, which is February 14th.
